Dr. Tebyani discusses how robot-assisted surgery has the precision to remove cancer and prostate, Men in the United States suffer from a disease that they consider embarrassing. It’s not every day that men think about complications in their prostate. But there is no need to fear as there are solutions to prostate cancer. A diagnosis of prostate cancer comes with a double whammy. The newly diagnosed patient deals not only with the fear of cancer itself, but also with concerns about two of the potential side effects of surgical treatment: one is incontinence and other one is impotence.

Such terrifying prospects have many of the thousands of men diagnosed with prostate cancer each year exploring other ways to assist control of their cancer and hopefully minimize the risk of long-term side effects. For many years, the prostate could only be removed by making a cut in the lower abdomen by a procedure known as "open" surgery. Eventually, techniques were developed to remove the prostate by laparoscopy where by performing the operation through small puncture holes in the abdomen and removing the prostate through a small incision around the belly button. Although laparoscopic surgery leaves less scarring, it was not clear, according to surgeons, if it was as effective as open surgery in helping to minimize side effects. Since 2000, though, a new form of laparoscopic prostate-cancer surgery, performed with the assistance of a robot, has rapidly gained popularity.

While there are several other types of treatment options for prostate cancer that shows similar results, a process called radical prostatectomy offers some important advantages. It allows doctors to do a more precisely examination of the stage of the cancer based on a pathological result.Also another easier way to find the type of prostate cancer is to take a simple blood test.
