Video Description:
Skin is one part of the body that’s exposed most of the time. Skin is susceptible to a disease called Skin Cancer. There are various forms of skin cancer such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma. Skin cancer can be deceiving at first because they start as precancerous cells like all other cancer. Scaly patches can be indicators that a person has been exposed to too much sunlight and that can be cancerous. These scaly patches can be found within the neck, head, or hands area. The single most important factor in producing squamous cell carcinomas is sun exposure. Many such growths can develop from precancerous spots, called actinic or solar Kerasotes. These lesions appear after years of sun damage on parts of the body like the forehead and cheeks, as well as the backs of the hands.

Some ways that a person can tell if they have skin cancer or not are by the "ABCDE" acronym. A stands asymmetry B stands for border which means if the bump is surrounded by other pimples, C stands for color meaning if the mole has different shades of color, D stands for diameter which means if they are larger than other pimples usually moles are less than 6mm long, and E stands for evolving which means if the mole is changing size either by shrinking or growing.Helpful tips that allow people to stay away from skin cancer are staying away from the sun as much as possible, as an advice “don't just lay in the sun” and don’t get affected by radiation. The people who can get skin cancer are people who have a skin cancer in their family history, fair skinned and light colored eyes, and if a person has many moles on their body.

Several uncommon factors may turn into squamous cell carcinoma. These include exposure to arsenic, hydrocarbons, heat, or X-rays. Some squamous cell carcinomas come in scar tissue. Suppression of the immune system by infection or drugs may also promote such growths. Some strains of the human papilloma virus is responsible for causing genital warts which can promote development of squamous cell carcinoma.
