When do you need a knee replacement?
Alan Beyer, MD, discusses when a patient needs a knee replacement surgery in this short video. Knee replacement surgery becomes inevitable when the degenerative process progresses to a point where it’s impacting upon a person’s ability to do their activities of daily living. When people have pain at rest or just when they’re walking around the house or down the block, that restricts them from doing activities of daily living, is when doctors begin to talk about the knee for total or partial knee replacement surgery. A person’s lifestyle should not be dictated by a person’s knee pain and mobility.
